Discover the Healing Power of Infrared Sauna Therapy with SaunaRay

At Kulhay Wellness Centre & Vitamin Shop, we proudly offer infrared sauna therapy using the premium SaunaRay sauna, a Canadian-made, eco-friendly, and medical-grade sauna designed for optimal health benefits. Whether you’re seeking detoxification, pain relief, or stress reduction, our SaunaRay sauna offers an unparalleled wellness experience.

How Does an Infrared Sauna Work?

Infrared saunas use infrared light, a type of electromagnetic wave, to heat your body directly instead of the air around you. This allows for a deeper, more penetrating heat at lower temperatures, making the experience more comfortable and effective.

SaunaRay saunas utilize three types of infrared wavelengths to deliver targeted health benefits:

  • Near Infrared: Promotes skin rejuvenation and wound healing by stimulating cell regeneration.

  • Mid Infrared: Reaches deeper tissues to improve circulation and reduce inflammation.

  • Far Infrared: Stimulates detoxification by activating sweat glands to remove toxins.

Infrared heat works by increasing your body’s core temperature, stimulating sweat production, and enhancing circulation, all while keeping the experience relaxing and therapeutic.

Benefits of Infrared Sauna Therapy

1. Detoxification
Sweating in an infrared sauna helps your body eliminate heavy metals, environmental toxins, and metabolic waste, leaving you refreshed and purified.

2. Pain Relief
Infrared heat improves circulation and reduces inflammation, alleviating muscle soreness, joint pain, and chronic conditions like arthritis.

3. Skin Health
Infrared light promotes cell turnover, reduces the appearance of scars, and helps treat conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis.

4. Weight Loss and Metabolism Boost
By raising your core body temperature, infrared saunas can help you burn up to 600 calories in a 30-minute session.

5. Stress Relief
The soothing heat relaxes your muscles and calms your mind, reducing stress and promoting mental clarity.

6. Cardiovascular Fitness
Infrared therapy improves circulation, raises your heart rate, and mimics the effects of light cardio exercise, supporting heart health.

7. Immune System Boost
Infrared heat triggers an artificial fever response, boosting your immune system and helping your body fight infections.

Infrared Sauna vs. Red Light Therapy

While both infrared sauna therapy and red light therapy use light to promote health and wellness, they are fundamentally different in their mechanisms, benefits, and applications.

Infrared Sauna Therapy uses infrared light waves—near, mid, and far infrared—to gently heat the body from the inside out. Unlike traditional saunas, which heat the air around you, infrared saunas directly warm your body, penetrating deep into muscles, joints, and tissues. This stimulates detoxification, promotes relaxation, improves circulation, and helps alleviate pain. Infrared saunas are known for their whole-body benefits, including weight loss, cardiovascular health, and immune support. However, despite the use of infrared light, the heat emitted by an infrared sauna is not visible to the naked eye, because infrared light exists outside the visible spectrum. Instead, you’ll experience soothing warmth without the bright red glow associated with red light therapy.

Red Light Therapy, on the other hand, uses specific wavelengths of visible red and near-infrared light (typically between 600 and 900 nanometers) to penetrate the skin and stimulate cellular processes. This therapy is not about heat—it works at a cellular level to enhance mitochondrial function, the energy centers of your cells, promoting skin repair, reducing inflammation, and aiding in wound healing. Red light therapy is commonly used for localized treatments to improve skin tone, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and support recovery from injuries.

Key Difference in Appearance:

Infrared saunas are often confused with red light therapy because of the word "infrared." However, infrared light is invisible to the human eye, so an infrared sauna doesn’t emit a visible red glow. Instead, you’ll feel a gentle, penetrating heat that works beneath the surface of your skin. In contrast, red light therapy visibly emits red and near-infrared light, creating a glowing effect that is often associated with the treatment.

In Summary: Infrared saunas offer whole-body benefits through heat and detoxification, while red light therapy is focused on cellular regeneration and skin health through non-heating light exposure. Both are highly effective but serve distinct purposes in wellness and therapy.

Session Length

Each infrared sauna session is 45 minutes, providing ample time to enjoy the full therapeutic benefits of the sauna. The room is reserved for 60 minutes to include time to undress, prepare, and redress before and after your session.

Recommended Time in the Sauna

For beginners, we suggest starting with 20 minutes inside the sauna to allow your body to acclimate to the infrared heat. Over time, you can increase your duration to 30–45 minutes, depending on your comfort level and wellness goals.

Before, During, and After Your Sauna Session

Before Your Session:
  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water before and after your session to stay hydrated.

  • Dress Comfortably: Wear light, loose-fitting clothing for easy changing, or bring a swimsuit if preferred.

  • Avoid Lotions or Oils: These can block pores and limit sweating.

During Your Session:
  • Relax and Breathe: Let the soothing heat do the work—our sauna will already be preheated and ready for you.

  • Towel Use: Use the hand towels provided to maintain hygiene and absorb sweat.

  • Stay Hydrated: Bring a water bottle to sip during your session if needed.

After Your Session:
  • Cool Down: Allow your body to adjust before stepping into the shower.

  • Rinse Off: Use the complimentary shower to refresh your skin and wash away toxins.

  • Rehydrate: Replenish fluids with water or an electrolyte drink.
