Rebecca Imrie, R.M.T (Registered Massage Therapist) Rebecca Imrie is a Registered Massage therapist and is a member of The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the Association of New Brunswick Holistic Practitioners.
Rebecca believes in working with the client and their health care team in order to develop the safest, most effective treatments. She has been trained in numerous modalities which are a good complement to all Swedish and deep tissue massages. Some of those modalities are Craniosacral, Neuromuscular technique, Myofascial technique, and Structural Integration.
Rebecca has been a member of the Kulhay Wellness team since 2004.
WHAT IS STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION?
Structural Integration is a type of modality which aims to align the human body in the gravitational field.
The claimed benefit is that the increased use of balance at finer levels of the neuro-fascial-musculo-skeletal system allows for increased general well-being and physical adaptability and resilience as well as reduced pain from biomechanically caused pain.
Re-education of the clients movement patterns and other modalities are commonly used to achieve or support the goal of improved alignment.
WHAT IS MYOFASCIAL RELEASE?
Myofascial Release is a form of soft tissue which includes, but is not limited to, structural assessments and manual massage techniques for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, integument, muscles, and bones are applied with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and balancing the body.
The fascia is manipulated, directly or indirectly, which allows the connective tissue fibers to reorganize themselves in a more flexible, functional fashion. Injuries, stress, inflammation, trauma, and poor posture can cause restriction to fascia.
Since fascia is an interconnected web, the restriction or tightness to fascia at a place, with time can spread to other places in the body like a pull in a sweater. The goal of myofascial release is to release fascia restriction and restore its tissue health.
WHAT DOES CRANIOSACRAL SESSION CONSIST OF?
Craniosacral therapy sessions involve the therapist placing their hands on the patient, which they state allows them to tune into what they call the craniosacral system. By gently working with the spine, the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia, the restrictions of nerve passages are said to be eased, the movement of CSF through the spinal cord can be optimized, and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their pro.
